Photography Terms Assignment

  
 Aperture: A space through which light passes in an optical or photographic instrument, esp. the variable opening by which light enters a camera.
 Dept of field: The distance between the nearest and furthest objects that give an image judged to be in focus in a camera.
Dark Room: a room that can be made completely dark to allow the processing of light sensitive photographic materials.
Developer: A person or organization that develops something.
Enlargment: Something that enlarges and/or gets bigger; an addition.
F-Stop: In optics, the f-number of an optical system expresses the diameter of the entrance pupil in terms of the focal length of the lens.
Fixer: A chemical preservative used to fix a photo.
ISO: Measures the sensitivity if the image sensor.
Planning: The process of making plans for something.
Single-lens reflez camera (SLR): A camera that typically uses a mirror and prism system that permits
Stop Bath - chemical bath used in the processing of black and white photos.
Telephoto lens - camera lens that magnifies the image.
View camera - type of camera first developed in the Daguerreotype era and still in use today.
Viewfinder camera - the preview window on a camera that is used to frame, focus, and take the picture.
Zoom lens - a lens allowing a camera to change smoothly between a long shot to a close-up and vice versa.
Continuous tone photography - images that have a virtually unlimited range of colors or shades of grey.
Lens - a light gathering device of a camera.
Wide-angle lens - a camera lens that has a wider than normal angle of view.
Shutter - device that allows light to pass for a determined period of time.
